Help ensure children and young people remain connected to education by identifying attendance concerns early and supporting timely intervention when it matters most.
As part of Surrey County Council's Alternative Provision and Participation Team, you will play a key role in strengthening our oversight of attendance for children and young people accessing Alternative Provision and other education arrangements. Working across the Children, Families and Lifelong Learning (CFLL) directorate, you will use attendance data, professional curiosity, and strong partnership working to identify emerging concerns, support information sharing, and contribute to improved outcomes for some of Surrey's most vulnerable learners.
This is a unique opportunity to combine analytical skills with a genuine commitment to improving children's outcomes. By ensuring attendance concerns are identified at the earliest opportunity, you will help support effective decision-making, multi-agency planning, and access to education for children who may be at risk of missing out.
Your key responsibilities as an Alternative Provision Attendance Monitoring Officer will include:
Monitoring and tracking attendance data using the Studybugs attendance management system, identifying patterns, trends, and emerging concerns
Maintaining accurate records and providing timely reports to support oversight, decision-making, and service improvement
Working collaboratively with internal teams, providers, families, and partner agencies to ensure attendance issues are understood and responded to appropriately
Supporting the Local Authority's oversight of children accessing Alternative Provision and those who may not be on roll at a school
Contributing to information sharing, quality assurance activities, and multi-agency planning to help ensure children receive the support they need to engage in education
If you're passionate about improving educational outcomes, enjoy working with data to drive meaningful action, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you. Join us and help ensure every child has the opportunity to access and engage in education.
Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
The role holder will need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.
