ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Job Description
Assistant Director of Nursing required to support the Person in Charge/Director of Nursing in managing clinical services, leading staff and maintaining safe, person-centred resident care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the overall management of nursing and care services
- Deputise for the PIC/DON as required
- Oversee care standards, assessments and care plans
- Support HIQA compliance, clinical governance and risk management
- Coordinate audits and quality improvement actions
- Review incidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints
- Support recruitment, induction, supervision and staff development
- Review staffing, rosters and resources within agreed budgets
- Promote infection prevention, health and safety
- Work with residents, families and the multidisciplinary team
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
• Current NMBI registration
• Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or leadership.
Experience
• At least three years’ experience nursing older people within the last six years, together with relevant clinical management experience.
• Experience in audit, quality improvement and staff development
Skills
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of HIQA standards and relevant regulations
- Good organisational and resource management skills
- Competence with electronic care records
- Pre-employment: Satisfactory references, Garda vetting, occupational health clearance and verification of registration and qualifications required.
