The Opportunity

This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care division and requires on‑site presence four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day. The Point of Care, Diagnostics division empowers smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life.   Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics.  In this role you will have the chance to analyze quality standards for components, materials or services and apply measures, sampling methods, testing methodology and other procedures that ensure that quality standards are met.

What You’ll Do

- Evaluate change control packages to ensure that equipment, products, processes, and facilities remain in qualified, validated state, including definition of appropriate requirements in change control documents, and tracking to completion the identified actions.

- Work with the technical team to identify and investigate unusual or unexpected events, data, or sources of variation during the development and performance of qualifications/validations; assess and document the impact upon qualification or validation as applicable and recommend appropriate corrective/preventive actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Less than one year experience in an engineering role.
  • Undergraduate University Degree in Engineering or Science with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Co-op and/or internship experience in a related field an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in challenging engineering, science, and related coursework.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make data-driven decisions.
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through extracurricular activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing and quality data to support process improvements, risk assessments, validation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong understanding of statistical principles and methods, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical analysis software.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prepare accurate technical reports, investigation reports and quality documentation.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information and collaborate with cross-functional teams at all organizational levels.

- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and quality management system requirements.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,250.00 to $86,900.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
