About the role
The Sales Support Engineer provides technical and sales support to the Account Managers, completing accurate, competitive and commercially compliant sales solutions for BTL's customers across the BMS and building automation business. The role is responsible for developing opportunities from initial customer enquiry through to quotation, follow-up and handover.
Key responsibilities
Support Account Managers with technical input throughout the sales process
Review customer requirements, specifications, drawings, equipment schedules and BMS points list
Develop BMS architecture, points list, controller & field device selections, networks & integration requirements
Obtain & evaluate supplier & subcontractor pricing
Review tender documents and identify technical & commercial risks, exclusions, gaps, assumptions and opportunities
Attend customer meetings, site visits, and technical discussions where required
Prepare accurate and timely estimates and quotations in line with BTL's pricing and profitability requirements
Develop BMS bills of materials: product and system selections, labour and installation estimates
Prepare proposals, scope-of-work documents, technical submission and tender responses
Assist Account Managers to ensure sales opportunities, quotations and supporting information are actively tracked, recorded and progressed through BTL's sales systems
About you
5 to 10 years' experience with a robust understanding of building services MEP technologies or related technical discipline (BMS and associated building automation for HVAC, Electrical, Lighting, Hydraulic, Fire & Security)
Experience in engineering, estimating, sales support or related role
Strong technical aptitude and an ability to understand and interpret technical information
Good numerical capability and attention to detail, particularly when preparing estimates and quotations
Strong computer skills and confidence learning technical and business systems
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Have a relevant trade (Electrical or Mechanical) or tertiary qualification in engineering (BE or BSC: Electrical or Mechanical or Mechatronics or Computer Science), building services, electrical, automation or related discipline
Experience preparing technical estimates, quotations or tender submissions (desirable)
Knowledge of Building Management Systems and/or Siemens building automation products (desirable)
