Job Description

O’Malley Paving is seeking for experienced Bricklayers to join our paving and landscaping team. You will be responsible for carrying out bricklaying and blocklaying work as part of residential and commercial paving, landscaping and external construction projects.

€36,605 per year. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 2 years with a possibility of extension. 20 days annual leave

Location of Employment

Work locations will vary depending on project requirements; however, all work will take place within Ireland. Office location: 4 The Cottages, Main Street, Ballincollig, Cork. P31 VX83

Hours of Work : 39 hours per week Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm (15-minute break, 1-hour lunch)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, blocks and other masonry materials to construct walls, boundary walls,
  • retaining walls, garden walls and other masonry features associated with paving and landscaping projects.
  • Construct and repair brick and block structures in residential and commercial outdoor environments.
  • Prepare and mix mortar, concrete and other materials required for masonry and paving works.
  • Set out and measure work areas to ensure accurate levels, alignment and dimensions.
  • Read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications relevant to paving, landscaping and masonry projects.
  • Carry out pointing, jointing, finishing and repair works to a high standard.
  • Prepare foundations and bases for walls, paving and other masonry structures.
  • Work alongside paving and landscaping teams to complete projects efficiently.
  • Ensure walls and other masonry structures are level, plumb and correctly aligned.
  • Safely load, unload and move bricks, blocks, paving materials and other construction materials.
  • Follow all site health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Work across different residential and commercial project sites throughout Ireland.
  • Work effectively with other tradespeople, foremen, and site supervisors to meet project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Skilled in bricklaying, blocklaying, mortar preparation, and structural alignment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and building plans.
  • Ensuring all work meets structural, safety, and quality standards.
  • Ability to perform manual labour, lifting, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced construction team.
  • Full driving licence: Advantageous for travelling to multiple construction sites.

Ability to communicate effectively in English
