Bridge Engineer
Job Description
**Bridge Engineer**
===================
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Bridge Engineer to join our Civil Structures team, working on a diverse portfolio of complex bridge and transport infrastructure projects across Aotearoa.
You’ll contribute to the design, assessment, and strengthening of bridge structures, taking ownership of defined technical work packages and applying sound engineering judgement to projects of moderate complexity. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers and technical leaders across the business, with access to recognised specialists to deliver practical, high‑quality solutions that meet client, programme, and regulatory requirements.
Your role will span the full project lifecycle, including concept and detailed design, construction support, and asset management. You’ll gain exposure to broader project delivery considerations such as programme, budget, and the commercial impact of engineering decisions. Through direct engagement with clients and stakeholders, you’ll help build trusted relationships by providing clear advice, effective communication, and a solutions‑focused approach.
You’ll be part of a high‑performing national structures team, supported by Beca’s strong technical network, collaborative culture, and commitment to learning, flexibility, and long‑term career development.
**Ko wai koe | About you**
You’re a capable and motivated Bridge Engineer who enjoys applying sound engineering judgement to deliver practical, real‑world solutions. With around five or more years’ experience in a consulting or professional services environment, you’ve built a strong technical foundation and are comfortable working across the full bridge project lifecycle from concept development through to detailed design, assessment, and delivery.
You bring hands‑on experience in bridge design and assessment, including technical calculations, modelling, documentation and design reviews, and you’re confident taking ownership of defined technical packages while working within wider project and commercial constraints. Collaboration comes naturally to you — you enjoy working alongside multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly, and contribute positively in a project‑based environment where shared outcomes matter.
You’ll be a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), or actively working toward chartership, supported by mentoring, structured development pathways and access to industry experts who are invested in helping you grow and succeed.
