Business Development Manager (TARANAKI)

Metro Direct is part of Metro Performance Glass and specializes in the sales, service and installation of various glass products in both the residential and commercial space.

We’re looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to take ownership of the Taranaki region and drive growth.

This is a hands-on role for someone who knows the building industry, is well connected and enjoys getting out there and making things happen. You’ll identify opportunities, build relationships, win new business and manage customers from initial enquiry through to delivery.

You’ll need to be pragmatic, commercially minded and solutions focused - someone who can assess a job, work out what’s needed, put together a quote and get on with it without needing to be told what to do next.

You may currently be working for a builders’ merchant, building products supplier or another business servicing the construction industry, with strong relationships across builders, contractors and key decision-makers.

You’ll also be an important part of a small local team, so we’re looking for someone who is happy to pitch in, support others and do what’s needed to get the job done.

What you’ll bring:

5+ years proven B2B sales/ business development experience

Strong connections and networks within the building and construction industry

Experience selling building products or working within a business servicing the construction industry

A genuine hunter mentality and a track record of winning new business

Commercial nous and the ability to assess jobs, cost and quote your own work

A practical, pragmatic approach — you look for solutions rather than excuses

Self-sufficient and organised, with the confidence to manage your own territory and workload

Plenty of energy, resilience, self-motivation and a strong desire to win

A team-first attitude and willingness to support a small local team

Leadership presence and the ability to influence both customers and internal stakeholders
