Café Manager

Columbus Coffee Mt. Wellington is located within the Garden Centre at Mitre 10 MEGA Mt. Wellington. As one of New Zealand's most recognized café brands, Columbus Coffee is known for quality food and coffee, welcoming service, and a loyal customer following. Our café is a busy, family-friendly destination and a strong base of repeat customers. We're now looking for an outstanding Café Manager to take ownership of the café and help drive it to its next stage of success.

This is a hands-on leadership role with full responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the café. You'll lead from the front, set high standards, and create an environment where both customers and team members enjoy coming to work. Beyond ensuring smooth daily operations, you'll bring the energy, leadership and commercial focus needed to grow the business. You'll identify opportunities to improve quality, increase customer loyalty, develop your team, and drive revenue and profitability.

Responsibilities:

Lead, coach and develop a high-performing café team.

Manage the day-to-day operation of the café and drive high front-of-house service and customer experience.

Assist the Chef with food preparation and kitchen duties as required, including basic preparation, plating, cleaning and maintaining an organised work area.

Manage labor costs, staff rosters and productivity to achieve business goals.

Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness.

Manage stock control, ordering and supplier relationships.

Ensure compliance with Food Control Plan, Health & Safety and company procedures.

Analyze business performance and implement initiatives to grow sales and profitability.

Create a positive, engaged and accountable team culture.

What You'll Bring:

Experienced in a similar role in the hospitality, retail or related industry.

Have management experienced in running a café and working with a small team.

Strong knowledge around Marketing and Franchise systems would be advantageous

Great time management and leadership skills with an ability to delegate and priorities.

Proven customer service skills, offering our customers a positive and unique in-store experience.
