Crop Monitoring Scout

Join Fruitfed Horticulture, part of PGG Wrightson, as a Casual Crop Monitoring Scout.

Based in Mid or Central Canterbury, you'll travel throughout the region visiting client properties to monitor crop health and collect samples from a range of crops, including berries, potatoes and vegetables. Applicants can be based in or near Ashburton, Mayfield, Darfield, Methven, Rakaia, Leeston, Lincoln or Rolleston.

This role has variety so it would suit someone who is willing to learn about a range of crops and skills including:

Collecting insect traps

Inspect traps using a microscope, counting the number of pests on the trap

Infield monitoring and sampling other crops (berries, potatoes and other vegetable crops)

Record findings via an app

Yield assessments

Soil sampling.

What you'll bring to the team:

A full, current, and clean NZ driver licence and your own reliable transport

No Prior experience needed! If you are committed to working, have a great work ethic, and can follow instructions then we will provide you all the necessary training

Exceptional eyesight and attention to detail

Good physical fitness, this role is an active role where you will be on your feet walking and bending throughout the day

An ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions

Availability throughout the year.
