Electrician- Industrial Career Opportunity Taupo
Job Description
Electrician | Industrial Career Opportunity
What's the opportunity?
Are you a registered Electrician looking to take the next step in your career?
Entec's instrumentation and electrical business is growing once again! Our workload continues to grow and as a result, we are looking for motivated and skilled Domestic/Commercial Electricians who are ready to expand their capabilities and transition into industrial electrical work.
If you've built a solid foundation in domestic/commercial construction, installations, maintenance, or project delivery and are looking for a new challenge, we'd like to hear from you.
At Entec, we're prepared to invest in the right person by providing training, mentoring, and exposure to industrial systems and projects. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your skillset and build a long-term career in the industrial sector.
A little bit about us
Entec is envied for the calibre of its staff and the consistently high quality of the products, projects, and services that we deliver to our customers. We operate across mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, and gas detection disciplines and are proud of our reputation as a great supplier and a great employer.
Entec is privately owned and well managed. While we've grown significantly over the years, we've worked hard to retain the culture and feel of a family business while offering the security, opportunities, and capability of a larger organisation.

Based in the heart of the central North Island, Taupō offers an enviable lifestyle alongside a varied and rewarding role. Enjoy easy access to the lake, mountains, outdoor adventures and everything the region has to offer, while still being part of a business working on projects across New Zealand.
As part of our growing industrial team, you will work alongside experienced industrial electricians, instrumentation technicians, and project leaders on a wide variety of industrial construction, installation, maintenance, and shutdown projects.
Depending on your experience, we will provide training and mentoring in areas such as:
Industrial electrical installations
Motor control and MCCs
Variable speed drives (VSDs)
Industrial fault finding
Hazardous areas
Instrumentation systems
Industrial plant maintenance
Process and manufacturing facilities
You will need to demonstrate excellent workmanship, productivity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safe working practices. You will also need the initiative to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
As Entec operates a significant apprentice programme, a willingness to support, coach, and mentor apprentices is expected.
What we're looking for
To be considered for this role, you will need
Working rights in New Zealand
A recognised electrical trade qualification
A current/Full EWRB practising licence
Strong domestic, commercial or Industrial electrical construction and installation experience
The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
Strong problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail
Effective communication skills
A commitment to Health, Safety, and Quality
A positive attitude and willingness to learn industrial systems and processes
Previous experience in industrial environments, hazardous areas, instrumentation, automation, or project leadership would be advantageous but is not essential.
What's in it for you?
Overtime opportunities
Penal rates and additional allowances
Ongoing training and professional development
Exposure to a wide range of industrial projects and technologies
A clear pathway into industrial electrical work
Long-term career opportunities within a growing business
The standard work week is 40 hours, with opportunities for overtime. As much of our project work is located outside the Taranaki region, the successful applicant will need to be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
