JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of an Environmental Advisor.

Reporting to the Section Manager (Nuclear Environment), the individual in this role will primarily be responsible for providing oversight on the Nuclear Environmental Monitoring Programs and Environmental Risk Assessments, with other support provided as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Implement, monitor, and oversee the Nuclear Environmental Monitoring Programs (CSA N288.4)

Provide technical review and oversight on Environmental Risk Assessments (CSA N288.6)

Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure program objectives are consistently achieved to ensure program health

Effectively manage contracted work, ensuring regulatory deadlines are met while ensuring high quality of deliverables

Produce clearly written deliverables (e.g., reports, regulatory correspondence)

Develop and deliver presentations to senior management, First Nations, stakeholder committees, and advisory councils

Provide timely and valuable support on internal and regulatory program audits

Maintain and update program governance, with a goal towards streamlining processes where appropriate

Oversee work program with a solution-driven mindset seeking out opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies

Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field through participation in technical committees

Provide other support to the team as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires 2+ years of relevant work experience in an environmental-related area (e.g. environmental program oversight, risk assessment)

Strong interpersonal skills; working within an internal team structure, as well as liaising with external parties, is an essential part of the position

Experience working with the public and regulatory bodies

High level of comfort with the use of Microsoft Excel, data management, analysis, and verification, with a curiosity towards implementing new data management tools/initiatives

Ability to create technical presentations for varying audiences, coupled with strong public speaking skills to effectively communicate technical results in an understandable format

Demonstrated ability in technical report writing

Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail and self-organization

Understanding of environmental matters as related to First Nations

Knowledge of nuclear power generation and familiarity with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Comission is considered an asset

* Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop scopes of work, manage contracts, and provide oversight on deliverables
