Job Description
Feed and care for cows, calves and bulls; operate a mixer wagon, Chop hay for use in feed; open frozen water fountains several times a day; bed and run skid steer or tractor with bale shredder and feed wagon. Load hay and grain into feed wagon, hydraulic chute, skid steer, brand and weigh on a digital scale, hoof trimming chute & stock trailer; clean and maintain stalls; prepare & pen cattle for sales; detect disease, sickness & problems with calves/mothers; recognize & treat various sicknesses; assist in vaccinating, medicating, AI, birthing calves, prolapses, abscesses, scouring calves & posting deceased animals; maintain breeding, birth & weaning records. Calve out cows, keeping pairs together; milk out fresh cows and bottle feed; be knowledgeable and alert to development of calves; stock pile/haul out manure, snow & ice removal; maintain protective snow barriers/windbreaks; maintain and repair cattle-related equipment/buildings. Manage gates and fences. Haul cattle to pasture using a stock trailer. Drive pick-up truck to town for cattle supplies on occasion. Speak and understand English.
Requirements: 3 months of experience. Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 60 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
