Fitness Manager

This is a key role, and we require a well organised Fitness Manager to manage and develop this space to achieve programme advancement, financial success and operational excellence.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) based at Auckland City Fitness Centre
What will you be doing?
Create a fun and friendly and safe environment within the fitness space that is welcoming and comfortable to all members, new and old, and encourages a sense of belonging and support
Lead, develop and manage all areas of the fitness and group exercise programmes
Provide positive contributions for the improvement of The Y fitness and group exercise programmes or practices
Set centre fitness and group exercise KPIs and ensure these are met or exceeded
Support and contribute to the ongoing operational, strategic and financial improvement of the centre and The Y North
Drive sales and growth within the Fitness department to exceed financial targets.
Ensure recruitment, selection, appointment and induction of staff is undertaken in accordance with all relevant HR policies and procedures - ensuring all required pre employment due diligence is undertaken
Lead your team to ensure they are working towards the achievement of the overall centre KPI’s and organisation strategy,
Ensure a positive team culture where team members are celebrated and managed effectively on achieving results and delivering as expected. Provide feedback and coaching if performance falls outside the desired standards
Lead the development and implementation of a local marketing plan – developed in
partnership with the Centre Manager and YMCA Marketing Department. Engage with the local community through outreach initiatives to identify and develop collaborative programs that address community needs.
What experience/skills do you need?
Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) registered to ‘Exercise Consultant Level 2’ or above
A passion and energy to make a difference in the community through health, fitness and sport
A hunger to drive and meet sales and retention targets
Experience in team management, coaching and be a great role model
Budgeting and business planning experience
Good MS Office skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Organisational and time management skills
Been in a similar management role before
Passion for, or experience in, HYROX-style functional fitness training would be advantageous but is not essential
