Food & Beverage Team Leader

Are you passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences? We are looking for an enthusiastic and service-focused Food & Beverage Team Leader to join our team at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside.

In this hands-on role, you will deliver friendly, professional food and beverage service while supporting the smooth running of our restaurant and bar operations. You will lead by example during service, assist team members with daily operational tasks, and help maintain the high standards our guests expect.

Key responsibilities

• Provide friendly, efficient and professional food and beverage service in accordance with hotel standards.
• Welcome guests, take orders accurately, serve food and beverages, and ensure timely delivery and presentation.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to support smooth service and minimise delays.
• Assist with accurate billing, payment processing and reconciliation of shift transactions.
• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to Food & Beverage team members during service.
• Assist with team briefings, new-starter induction and maintaining consistent service standards.
• Encourage appropriate upselling and promote hotel offers, products and services.
• Assist with stock control, stocktakes, equipment care and reporting breakages.
• Maintain restaurant and bar cleanliness, food hygiene and responsible service of alcohol standards.
• Respond professionally to guest requests and feedback, escalating operational concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Follow hotel policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and all relevant operational procedures.

What we are looking for

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in food and beverage service within a hotel, restaurant or bar environment.
• Demonstrated experience providing high-quality, guest-facing service in a busy hospitality setting.
• Good knowledge of beverages, including beer, wine, spirits and cocktails.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• A guest-focused approach, attention to detail and a positive, professional attitude.
• Good organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities during busy service periods.
• A commitment to food safety, workplace health and safety, hygiene and responsible service of alcohol.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
