Job Title: General Labour - Farm

Reports to: Crop Supervisor

Based at: Greenhill Produce (Thamesville) Ltd., Kent Bridge, Ontario

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent, 6 days a week, steady day and potentially extended hours depending on workload and priorities, which could include possible Sunday shifts (unless stipulated otherwise in offer of employment).

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Harvest fruits/vegetables using hand tools such as shears and knives
• Sort, weigh and pack fruit/vegetables at the farm
• Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery
• Crop work including deleafing, stringing, lowering, pruning
• Monitor plants problems such as diseases, weeds, insect pests and report to supervisor
• Inspect product prior to packaging and ensure that quality specifications are met on the final product.
• Follow procedures to report any incidents at work.
• Report quality or crop issues to labour supervisor.
• Follow all company policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understand and follow information presented through spoken words and sentences by supervisor
• Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisor
• No education required

Physical Abilities

• Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
• Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
• Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
• Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
• Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F to 21-31°C (70-86°F)
