The Opportunity

As a Graduate Engineer at Wellington Electricity, you'll join small, specialised teams and follow a structured development programme designed to give you experience across our various engineering functions. The diversity of the work is aimed at giving the Graduate Engineer a solid grounding in power distribution engineering principles and the operation of an electricity distribution network. You will also work across other areas of the business and with a variety of people, so that you build a solid understanding of how the functions connect and how WE\ keep the lights on.

In this Graduate Engineer role at Wellington Electricity your key responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

Assisting with the development and management of a large electrical distribution network that has long term customer growth, ageing assets and increasing demands and expectations from key stakeholder groups

Undertake investigations into network performance and power quality issues

Assist with calculation and reporting of network performance indices (e.g. SAIDI, SAIFI) and provide assistance with any other operational planning, analysis and reporting

Contributing to projects that will be included in the annual asset management plan to ensure organisational strategic goals are achieved

Obtaining network information and updating load forecasts and network models

To succeed in this role, you'll bring

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent

Good knowledge of electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems

Strong interest in power systems, power engineering, and electricity distribution network operations

Experience with common and advanced desktop applications relevant to power system analysis such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory (preferred)
