About the role
Lead the day-to-day operations of a highly regarded, 47-room, 4.5-star hotel in Rotorua. You will have overall responsibility for hotel operations, service standards, people leadership, financial performance, compliance, and the presentation of the property. You will be visible throughout the hotel, build strong relationships with guests and team members, and ensure every department works together effectively.
Key responsibilities
Lead all hotel operations to consistently deliver a high-quality, personalised guest experience.
Coach, motivate, and develop department leaders and their teams, fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture.
Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and financial performance against agreed budgets and targets.
Monitor guest feedback and service measures, responding promptly and using insights to improve the guest journey.
Maintain 4.5-star standards across accommodation, front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and public areas.
Oversee staffing, rostering, training, performance management, and succession planning.
Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, licensing, employment, privacy, and other relevant New Zealand requirements.
Work closely with sales, marketing, revenue, and reservations functions to optimise occupancy, average rate, and total hotel revenue.
Build productive relationships with suppliers, tourism partners, community stakeholders, and other industry contacts.
Provide clear operational and financial reporting to senior management, identifying risks and recommending timely action.
About you
Proven management experience in an upscale, boutique, or full-service hotel environment.
Strong knowledge of rooms operations, food and beverage, revenue management, budgeting, and cost control.
A successful record of leading, engaging, and developing diverse operational teams.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
A strong eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to service, presentation, and safety.
Confidence using property management, point-of-sale, and hotel reporting systems.
The ability to remain composed, make sound decisions, and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant hospitality or business qualifications are desirable.
The legal right to work in New Zealand.
