HR Generalist
Job Description
HR Generalist
£38,000–£40,000 per annum | Full time | Based at Head Office, Borehamwood, with regular travel to our homes
If you're an experienced Senior HR Assistant ready for more responsibility, or a HR Officer who enjoys getting the detail right, this role offers real ownership, sign-off authority and the chance to see the difference your work makes across a multi-site group.
At Westgate Healthcare, HR is close to the people it supports. Our teams care for older adults across nine homes. Getting the fundamentals right, such as the right checks, accurate contracts and a smooth first week, directly shapes the care our residents receive. As our HR Generalist, you'll be the person who makes sure that happens consistently across the whole group, as part of a supportive HR team that trusts you to get on with it.
About The Role
What you'll be doing
Taking accountability for HR administration and compliance across Head Office and all nine of our homes
Setting and maintaining standards across the group: training, guiding and quality-assuring our Home Administrators, and auditing HR compliance in our homes and with the agencies we use
Holding sign-off authority on pre-employment checks, offer letters, contracts, leavers and the HR elements of payroll
Working closely with our recruitment team and Home Managers to keep new starters moving smoothly through to their first day, and checking that onboarding is working well across the group
Contributing to board-level HR reporting and improving the systems and processes behind our HR administration
What you'll bring
Significant HR experience, whether as a Senior HR Assistant or HR Officer
Working knowledge of UK employment law, including right to work, DBS and data protection requirements
CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) or equivalent; Level 5 would be a bonus
Sound judgement: confident resolving routine matters yourself and clear on when to escalate
Strong attention to detail, and the confidence to hold others to a high standard
Multi-site or health and social care experience would be an advantage, but isn't essential
Why Westgate is different
Family owned and operated. You'll be part of a close-knit HR team, where your work is visible and makes a difference.
Scope to improve how things work. You'll help develop our HR administration systems and processes, not just maintain them.
The best of both worlds. You'll have a Head Office base, plus regular time in our homes, so you'll see the impact of what you do.
Our homes are currently rated Good or Outstanding by CQC.
We promote from within. Many of our staff, including Home Managers, started with us in entry-level roles.
Our values
Compassionate. Committed. Collaborative. Credible. Our motto is “passionate about people”, and in HR that's the job. These values guide how we treat each other as much as how we care for our residents.
Pay and hours
£38,000–£40,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
* Based at Head Office, Borehamwood, WD6 1NA, with travel to our homes as required
Why people stay at Westgate
Many of our staff have been with us for years
