Position: 2 - HVAC/Refrigeration Service Technicians

Location: Waikato region

Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform routine servicing and repairs on commercial air conditioning systems.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
  • Work with central plant chilled water systems, VRF/VRV systems, and air-cooled/water-cooled chillers.
  • Service and maintain DX and chilled water (CHW) process coolers.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC system components, including fan motors, compressors, and refrigerant circuits.
  • Install, commission, and start up new air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, technical data sheets, and system specifications.
  • Use appropriate hand tools for HVAC installations and repairs, including welding ACR copper tubing.
  • Conduct pressure testing and system evacuation to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform basic electrical work, including limited isolation, disconnection, and reconnection of HVAC equipment.
  • Calibrate and adjust temperature control systems, including interfacing with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety procedures, including hazard identification, use of PPE, and site-specific protocols.
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times and participate in toolbox talks, site inductions, and H&S reporting as required.
  • Qualifications:
  • NZQCF Level 4 qualification or 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
  • Desired Skills and Attributes:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on customer relationship management.
  • High standard of workmanship and personal appearance.
  • Availability to participate in the callout roster.
  • Remuneration:
  • Competitive hourly rates ranging from $34 to $50, based on experience, plus a tool allowance.
