We are seeking an enthusiastic bilingual professional to provide support in our dynamic international student programme. This role serves as a bridge between our school, international students, overseas families and education agents.

The International Student Support will play a key part in fostering a positive experience for our international students, supporting their wellbeing and academic journey. They will also contribute to the department’s digital marketing and communication channels, provide translation services and coordinate welcomes, farewells, orientation and school tours. This is a vital role, being one of the first points of contact for our International Students, as they integrate into New Zealand culture and the learning environment.

The position is part time, term time only, approximately 40 weeks per year. For the first five weeks of terms 1 and 3, the role is 37.5 hours/5 days per week. For the remaining 30 weeks of the year, the role is 13 hours/2 days per week.

Key Skills, experience and qualities

A genuine enjoyment of working with young people and the ability to relate to a wide range of people

Strong cultural intelligence and competence, being native or professionally fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and verbal). Japanese language skills would be a bonus.

Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills with a warm, welcoming presence for student pastoral care and community hosting

An empathetic approach, with the ability to relate to students and manage behaviours

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A high level of integrity, professionalism and discretion

Digital Marketing and IT skills

Flexibility and the availability to increase hours to full-time during the peak intake periods

* A full, clean, NZ drivers licence

Remuneration will be based on the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement - Admin Grade 4 - dependent on skills and experience.

The start date is negotiable.
