About the role

European Stone Masons Ltd is seeking a full-time Labourer to join our team in the Wellington CBD. This is a hands-on position that forms an integral part of our operations, supporting our skilled Stone Masons & or Tilers in delivering high-quality stone masonry and construction projects. You will be based on-site and play a vital role in ensuring projects run smoothly, safely, and to the highest standards. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to develop practical skills within a dynamic and established trades company.

Key responsibilities

1. Assisting skilled Masons and Tilers /Water proofers with the preparation, handling, and installation of materials on construction sites

2. Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment, including site tidying and waste management

3. Supporting the loading, unloading and transportation of materials, tools and equipment

4. Following health and safety protocols and procedures at all times to protect yourself and your colleagues

5. Performing general labouring duties as directed, including digging, mixing, and preparing work areas

6. Assisting with the setup and breakdown of work sites in preparation for and after project completion

7. Operating basic tools and equipment safely and effectively under supervision

8. Communicating effectively with team members and reporting any issues or concerns promptly

What we're looking for

1. Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights where required

2. A willingness to learn and develop new skills within the trades and construction industry

3. A strong commitment to health and safety practices, including the ability to work in compliance with relevant legislation and site-specific protocols

4. Reliable and punctual attendance with a professional work ethic

5. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

6. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions clearly

7. Prior labouring or construction experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate

8. A valid driver's licence is preferred

9. Current health and safety certifications (such as a construction safety induction card) are desirable

What we offer

Minimum Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 47.5 hours
