Labourer LANGFORD Outdoor Retail Garden Centres

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Outdoor Retail Garden Centre Labourer job primarily involves moving trees, shrubs and perennial plants into the key sales zones located in the outdoor retail garden centre. Assisting with merchandising the plants is also part of the role. If you enjoy working outdoors surrounded by plants and getting a great physical workout while you’re working then this seasonal job might be for you!

We're looking for a reliable, fit, friendly labourer who can work independently sometimes and often as a team member.

This position is typically Spring through to Fall. We have part-time and full-time seasonal job openings available now.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Receiving Deliveries of Plants**

Moving shipping carts to the appropriate locations of bench and pallet display areas in the outdoor garden centre.

Using a pallet jack to move pallets of shrubs and trees.

Unloading shrubs, trees and perennial flowers from shipping racks onto display pallets and benches in the outdoor garden centre.

Assisting merchandising co-workers with placing plants in specific areas of the garden centre.

**Other Duties**

Other duties may include

• moving empty carts to the parking lot area for easy pick up by nursery drivers.
• Clearing, condensing, and moving plants in advance of delivery days in order to make room for new shipments of plants in the garden centres.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Safety-Minded: proven history of working safely in a workplace, showing consideration for the safety of self, coworkers and garden centre customers.

Reliability: proven ability to commit to the job and motivated to support team members.

Teamwork and Working Independently: working well with co-workers to create a smooth, enjoyable work experience, and willingness to work independently when necessary.

Communication: ability to understand verbal instructions, and confidence to ask questions if more clarity is needed.

Time Management: ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to work productively during fast-paced times as well as being productive and helpful during slow-roll times.

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**

• This is a very physical job! Must be able to lift 50 lbs alone or team lift up to 100 lbs.
• Must own and wear SAFETY TOE BOOTS AT ALL TIMES when in the garden centre.
• Must be able/willing to work OUTDOORS--during hot sunny weather and cool rainy days.
• Must have reliable transportation to/from the retail garden centre; including appropriate vehicle insurance.
• Must own a smartphone.
• Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
• Must observe and follow safety protocol at all times.
• Must live within 30-40 minutes drive of Langford.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal.

Salary: $20.00 to $23.00 / hour DOE (depending on experience, reliability and performance)

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
