Job Description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

The Driver Education team designs, develops, and launches learning experiences for Lyft drivers in the in-app Learning Center. Our content spans everything from safety features to tax season tips to five-star driving guidance, reaching hundreds of thousands of drivers across the US and Canada. We also partner closely with the Learning Platform product team to shape the features and functionality that support driver learning and our business goals.

We're looking for a creative, tech-savvy Learning Experience Designer who is passionate about adult learning at scale. You'll craft content that meets drivers' needs across their full lifecycle on the platform, supporting a diverse community with a wide range of learning styles, language preferences, and regional contexts. Strong writing, deep empathy for learners, and the ability to move quickly are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, maintain, and update driver learning content, primarily for our in-app Learning Center.
  • Consistently evaluate and iterate on content and learning solutions to maintain high quality, strong behavioral and business impact, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop both an empathetic and data-driven understanding of drivers, their educational needs, and their barriers to success.
  • Advise on technological learning solutions—both in-app and off-platform—to ensure drivers receive materials where and when they need them.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for andragogy, championing new learning approaches and measurement tools to ensure we provide a best-in-class educational experience for drivers.
  • Partner with the creative team to ensure alignment with brand standards, tone, and voice.
  • Support the team’s cross-functional partners by ensuring awareness of new content and contributing to marketing efforts that help drivers find new learning experiences.
  • Contribute to measurement frameworks that help the team evaluate content success and inform future development.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of experience in instructional design or developing adult learning content.
  • Expertise in designing, developing, planning, implementing, and assessing educational content to current industry and adult learning standards.
  • Proven experience collaborating with subject matter experts and influencing cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Familiarity with adult education best practices and a current understanding of how they apply to mobile-first, self-directed learning environments.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone for a diverse, global audience.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Compassionate, customer-centric mindset.
  • Nice to Have
    • Comfort using AI tools (such as Gemini or Claude) to support and accelerate content development workflows.
    • Experience with content management systems or content models.
    • Experience working with creative partners–visual designers, animators, or video producers.
