Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

You want to bring people together to solve problems and get lawmakers to make long-term, sustainable public policy changes that will improve the lives of all Michiganders by tearing down government-erected barriers to economic prosperity.

You appreciate how grassroots advocacy and principled elected officials can drive meaningful policy reform… and you understand the power and importance of leveraging grassroots citizens in the policymaking process.

This includes identifying policy opportunities and threats, strategy and planning for legislation, regulatory change and related activities in collaboration with the AFP national policy team to include research and analysis of current law and proposed state legislation.

A strong candidate will have existing knowledge of policy, process and personnel in the Michigan State House and State Senate. The candidate should have a commitment to the principles of the organization; specifically, a firm commitment to transforming lives through the advancement of principles and policies that ensure every individual's right to economic freedom and opportunity based on free-market principles.

## How You Will Contribute

  • Monitor, research and analyze state legislative and regulatory trends in collaboration with AFP Policy team that impact our policy areas. Track pending legislation and mitigate as needed
  • Work closely with state director, deputy director, and AFP Policy team in the development and analysis of information for advocacy documents, issue summaries, presentations, testimony, etc.
  • Build relationships with local government officials, business owners, and other strategic partners to further coalition strength in the statehouse
  • Compile answers to inquiries from field staff and assist and coordinate with their efforts in the field

## What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of three years professional experience working in a related field (i.e. policy analysis, statehouse position, etc.)
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience drafting op-eds, news releases, etc.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced environment
  • Integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude
  • A positive attitude and an earnest interest in providing good customer service to our field team members, partners, and activists by ensuring that the appropriate resource support services are available and ready for all engagement activity.

## What We Offer

  • Competitive benefits:Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.
  • A meaningful career: Join a passionate community of over 1,400 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.
