Livestock Worker/Ranch Hand
Job Description
Performs any of the following tasks to attend to livestock: Fall cattle work/pregnancy checking.
Moving cattle to ranch from summer pastures. Weaning calves. Monitoring their health daily.
Feeding twice a day. Vaccinating. Cleaning and bedding pens. Checking waters daily. Feeding the cattle. Grinding hay and alfalfa. Working and vaccinating the cows/bulls. Maintaining fences and feed equipment. Cleaning and bedding cattle pens. Snow removal. Prepping calving barn. Calving begins end of February. Cleaning calving pens daily. Bedding calving barns daily. Monitoring cows every 3 hours during calving. Checking frozen waterers. Tag, weigh, and give medication to newborn calf within hours of birth. Monitoring calves for sickness 3 X a day. Treat sick calves. Prepping bulls for sale. Clipping and picturing sale animals. Semen testing and working bulls. Feeding bulls daily. Drive pick-up truck to town for cattle supplies on occasion.
