Lung Cancer Screening Specialist Nurse

Accountable for own actions in accordance with Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute towards corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.

Developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high-quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Ability to communicate with all members of the multi-professional teams locally such as GP practices, third party provider stakeholders, Healthy Lifestyles Coventry, Community Teams and the West Midlands Cancer Alliance.

A knowledgeable team member, supporting staff, service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.

Participating in providing training of identified staff groups within defined areas (where required).

Inputting data and being involved in audit and/or information collection.

Utilise and ensure others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.

Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.

To undertake and promote practice sensitive to the needs of patients and families to tackle health inequalities in line with the NHS Long Term Plan Ambition.

To participate in screening review meetings (SRM) where Lung Cancer Screening participants with significant lung and incidental findings will be discussed and contribute to and support the work of colleagues in the screening review meeting following up actions when needed as well as tracking them to ensure participants are referred on the correct pathway.
