Mechanic

P McGovern & Son Building Contractors are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a range of vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring all machinery is kept in safe and efficient working condition.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing and maintenance on vehicles, plant, and machinery

Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake repairs efficiently

• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential issues
• Repair and replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with safety regulations
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Work efficiently to minimise downtime of vehicles and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
• Communicate effectively with team members and management
• Requirements
• Previous experience as a Mechanic
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques
• Experience working on commercial vehicles, plant machinery, or similar equipment is desirable
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment safely
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good time management and problem-solving skills
• Relevant qualifications or certification preferred but not essential
• Full driving licence preferred
