Job Description
Responsible for ensuring compliance with freight car construction and maintenance standards, the full-time Mechanical Field Inspector will conduct inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews remotely, partnering with various teams to support repair execution and customer issue resolution.
##### Key responsibilities
Perform physical inspections of freight cars to assess condition and compliance with applicable standards
Lead contract repair shop audits and joint lease return inspections, allocating maintenance responsibilities as needed
Provide technical guidance and support for customer issue resolution related to mechanical findings
##### Required qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
5 or more years of freight car inspection and maintenance experience
Thorough knowledge of AAR Field and Office Manuals and relevant standards
Strong background in freight car construction and repair shop practices
Valid U.S. driver's license and passport required for travel to Canada and Mexico
