Our nautically-inspired hotel sits on the end of Princes Wharf, home to a wide variety of fine shops, restaurants, and bars. Hilton Auckland offers the most spectacular harbour views and features 187 stylish guest rooms, the sustainable restaurant FISH, iconic Bellini Bar and seven conference spaces.
We have a Pastry Chef position available at Hilton Auckland who will ensure our guests are provided with the best culinary experience.
What will I be doing?
As the Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Assist pastry operations: Responsible for the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, cost controls, and overall profitability
Enhance menu offerings: Work closely with the Senior Chef de Partie and Culinary Director to execute and enhance pastry offerings and seasonal menus based on current food trends and local tastes
Delight our guests: Engage with guests and clients to assess satisfaction, address concerns, and support initiatives that enhance the pastry experience.
Monitor financial performance: Assist with the budget management, forecasting, and reporting to help achieve financial targets and ensure pastry operations align with the hotel’s goals.
Ensure operational efficiency: Follow established pastry kitchen systems, processes, and workflows to support smooth and efficient operations.
Ensure regulatory excellence: Uphold compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulations, fostering a culture committed to the highest standards of guest and team member well-being.
What we are looking for
Minimum 2 years' experience in a pastry kitchen, hotel, bakery, or high-quality restaurant.
Formal culinary training or hospitality qualification preferred.
Flexible availability - able to work evenings and weekends
Sound knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques, and food presentation.
Understanding of food safety, hygiene, storage, and receiving procedures.
Recognised Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Clear and professional communication skills.
