Job Description
To support the billing operations of a large health system, the full-time Patient Accounts Specialist will perform accounts receivable follow-up and collection procedures remotely, ensuring timely reimbursement from third-party carriers and managing a portfolio of accounts.
##### Key responsibilities
Perform accounts receivable follow-up and collection activities for assigned divisions and third-party carriers
Maintain communication with third-party carriers regarding billing and reimbursement changes
Assist in evaluating accounts receivable and developing strategies to decrease outstanding balances
##### Required qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
Minimum of 2 years of collection experience in medical billing operations
Experience with automated billing systems, preferably GE IDX and ETM
Knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT4 coding related to third-party carrier reimbursement
Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to collection activities
