Product Manager

VTNZ is an iconic New Zealand brand which leads the way in the provision of vehicle inspection and driver testing services.  Being one of NZ's largest privately-owned businesses, with the support of global parent company DEKRA, VTNZ offers a unique opportunity in the Wellington market for an experienced and commercially driven Product Manager to join our team in Wellington. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a diverse product portfolio and drive innovation, growth, and customer value within a dynamic service environment.  Some travel may be required as part of this role.

About the Role

This isn’t a traditional product management role - we’re a fast-moving, customer-focused team that values action over bureaucracy. While we apply strong product management principles, we take a practical, hands-on approach, getting ideas in front of customers early and often to learn what works.

Rather than relying on lengthy research cycles, focus groups or heavy processes, we design, prototype, pilot and build, using real-world customer feedback to shape our decisions. We move quickly, iterate continuously, and focus on delivering meaningful value at pace. Reporting to the National Customer Care Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full product lifecycle – from strategy and development through to performance monitoring and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in identifying market opportunities, leading product innovation, and delivering campaigns that enhance profitability and customer experience.

Key responsibilities include

Leading new product development initiatives and bringing ideas to market

Managing and optimising a portfolio of products and services through strategic planning and analysis

Conducting product performance reviews, including SWOT, pricing, and lifecycle analysis

Developing product campaigns, including strategy, guiding execution, and performance tracking

Managing relevant supplier, partner and customer relationships

Collaborating with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, customer care, operations, finance, and technology

Driving product and service innovation aligned with customer needs and market trends

About YouTo be successful in this role, you will bring:

Preferred minimum of 2-3 years' experience with product development, marketing, sales, or a combination of these areas

Strong understanding of innovation and development, sales and marketing

Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

High level of organisation with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent tools

Flexibility and willingness to travel as required
