About the role
We are looking for an experienced Wellington-based Project Manager to take a key role in the growth and delivery of operations in the Wellington Region.
This is a broad, hands on role combining project management with local operational oversight and business development. Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering specialist slope stabilisation, ground engineering and civil construction projects safely, on time, within budget and to the highest of quality standards. You'll work closely with clients, designers, engineers, subcontractors and site teams, providing leadership throughout every stage of the project lifecycle while ensuring commercial, contractual and operational objectives are achieved.
In addition to managing projects, you will be an important local representative for Groundfix, building and maintaining relationships with clients, consultants, councils, contractors and suppliers, identify upcoming opportunities and maintain visibility across the Wellington market.
This role will also provide oversight of Groundfix Wellington office and workshop, ensuring that our local facilities and resources are well maintained, and efficiently support our local operations and project delivery. The role will work closely with the Auckland based management, operational and estimating teams. Experience in estimation and tender preparation would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Key responsibilities
Manage projects from tender stage through to practical completion and close-out
Develop project methodologies, construction programmes, procurement plans and project management plans
Coordinate project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver successful outcomes
Monitor project budgets, forecasts, progress claims and financial performance
Manage contracts, variations, extensions of time and project risk
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, engineers and key stakeholders
Represent Groundfix at client meetings, tender briefings, project meetings, site visits and industry engagements
Identify and develop new project and business opportunities within the Wellington and wider regional market
Maintain awareness of upcoming projects, market activity, and opportunities relevant to Groundfix's specialist capabilities
Provide day-to-day operational oversight of the Wellington office and workshop
Lead project reporting, documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle
About you
A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
10+ years' experience managing civil construction, ground improvement or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, programming and contract administration
Experience managing project budgets, commercial outcomes and contractual obligations
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience working under NZS construction contracts (including NZS 3910/3916)
Background in developing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
