Public Health Manager

Gambling harm is changing fast. Online betting, gambling-style features in games and constant marketing are reaching new communities in new ways. PGF LTD is a national specialist provider of gambling harm reduction and behavioural addiction services, and we are looking for a Public Health Manager to lead our public health response.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the development and delivery of our national public health strategy. You will work in close partnership with our Head of Marketing to design behaviour change programmes that reduce harm, advance public health priorities and connect people to support. This is a role for someone who wants their work to count. You will be accountable for impact and return on investment, directing effort to where it makes the biggest difference for whānau, hapori and funders.

Key responsibilities

Lead and refresh our national public health strategy, grounded in evidence and aligned to strategic priorities

Translate national priorities into a clear annual work plan with defined outcomes

Apply behaviour change frameworks such as COM-B, behavioural insights and social marketing, and embed them as a shared discipline across the team

Use a test, learn and iterate approach, building impact measures into every programme from the start

Lead, coach and develop a national team of Health Promoters and Multi-Venue Exclusion Co-ordinators

Build business cases and funding proposals for new investment

About you

You are a strategic thinker who can also get things done. You understand how behaviour change works in the real world and you know how to show it is working.

You will bring

• a graduate qualification in public health, health promotion, health sciences, behavioural science or a related field
• demonstrated experience applying behaviour change theory in programme design and delivery
• experience setting outcome measures and evaluating impact
• sound analytical and commercial judgement, including experience writing business cases, tenders or RFPs
• proven people leadership, including direct line management of a delivery team
• confidence managing complex relationships across providers, the sector and government
