Foster Maintain is a business unit of the Foster Construction Group, specialising in small to medium commercial construction projects.
About The Role |As a Quantity Surveyor & Estimator with Foster Maintain Ltd, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial success of commercial construction projects through accurate estimating, cost planning, procurement, contract administration and financial reporting. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, subcontractors and clients, you'll play a key role in driving project profitability, managing commercial risk and delivering value-focused outcomes while maintaining Fosters' commitment to quality, integrity and project success.
Key Role Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed estimates, cost plans, budgets and tender submissions.
Complete accurate material take-offs from drawings and specifications.
Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including contract negotiations and agreements.
Monitor project budgets, costs, cashflow and financial performance throughout delivery.
Manage project variations, claims, financial reporting and final accounts.
Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
Review and administer construction contracts and subcontract agreements.
Provide monthly financial reporting, forecasting and performance updates.
Support and mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors where applicable.
Build strong relationships with project teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Key competencies – Skills, experience*& qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience within commercial construction.
Proven experience in estimating, procurement, contract administration and financial reporting.
Strong working knowledge of NZ construction contracts including NZS3910.
Experience preparing tenders, negotiating contracts and managing project budgets.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials and industry practices.
Ability to identify commercial risks and implement practical mitigation strategies.
High level financial acumen, forecasting and reporting capability.
Proficient with construction management and cost management systems.
