At RM Homes, we're passionate about building high-quality homes and delivering an exceptional experience for our clients. We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in delivering our residential projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our General Manager while helping lead and develop our QS department.

About the Role

As our Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for pricing new residential builds from concept through to construction, while supporting project delivery and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors.

You'll work closely with our Project Managers, Sales Consultants and Design team to ensure projects are accurately priced and delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing residential homes, house and land packages, and design-and-build projects.

Preparing estimates, budgets, and cost plans.

Managing client and construction variations.

Negotiating rates and pricing agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.

Preparing and administering subcontractor contracts.

Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors within the team.

Working collaboratively with Project Managers to monitor project costs throughout construction.

Liaising with Sales Consultants to provide accurate pricing and feasibility during the sales process.

Using RM Homes custom-built estimating and construction software to manage pricing and project information.

Identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and value.

What We're Looking For

Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in New Zealand residential construction.

Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and materials.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

High attention to detail and strong commercial awareness.

Experience mentoring or leading junior team members is an advantage.

A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification is preferred.
