Appointment will be made on Security Guard at Band 2 (€36,228 -€45,484) at a point in line with Government pay policy.

**Hours of work:**

Full-Time 39 hours

Responsibilities

**Duties:**

To perform such duties as may be assigned by the Chief Security Officer/Deputy or such other person as may be designated by the Board.

These duties will include:-

• Report to the Hospital’s Chief Security Officer, or in his/her absence, the Assistant.
• Be supervised by the Hospital Security Supervisors, to whom all operational reports will be submitted.
• Be required to work with the staff of security contractors engaged by the Hospital.
• Be required to become familiar with the lay-out of the Hospital and the security procedures.
• Abide by and enforce security instructions given by a supervisor or higher grade person in the security service.
• Investigate and report on breaches of security policies, and security incidents.
• Undertake administration type tasks if required.
• Promote good security practices, including Health and Safety, and Fire Prevention/Safety matters.
• Co-operate with and give assistance to Officers of any statutory body attending the Hospital campus in the course of their duties.
• To report to immediate superior on any irregularities that might adversely affect the carrying out of assigned duties.
• Attend training courses as directed by the Chief Security Officer.
• To report promptly for duty.
• The appointee may absent himself/herself from work only on having obtained prior permission from the Chief Security Officer/Deputy.
• Carry items of Hospital equipment in the course of their duties and ensure that such equipment is protected from damage.
• Wear the uniform appropriate to their grade in the designated fashion.
• Have neat and tidy appearance and no visible tattoos, or unnecessary jewellery.

**Mandatory:**

• Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
• PSA Licence Private Security Authority

**Desirable:**

• Recognised Security Supervisor / Management Course
• To have worked in a Health Care Environment
• 5 Year Security Experience
