We’re a New Zealand, employee-owned company with a team of 52 people across our Tauranga, Rotorua, and Te Puke offices, including civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers, planners, surveyors, and technicians.
The Role
This is a full-time position based in our Tauranga office, supporting a range of land and building development projects across the Bay of Plenty. We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer, with the opportunity for the right candidate to take on greater leadership responsibility. Depending on their experience, capability and aspirations, the role has the potential to develop into a Team Lead position.
You’ll work collaboratively with Stratum’s multidisciplinary team - including Structural and Geotech Engineers, Surveyors, and Planners- to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and deliver civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical standards, budgets, and client requirements.
Provide construction support including site supervision and certification.
Prepare and deliver engineering design, calculations, specifications and reports.
Maintain and grow client relationships through effective communication and reliable project outcomes.
Support the civil engineering team, mentoring, and performance oversight.
What are we looking for?
Strong technical expertise in land development projects, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for clients
Proven experience in stormwater, grading and drainage design
Strong working knowledge of New Zealand legislation and local council requirements
8+ years of predominantly New Zealand-based experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land development
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication, relationship management and project management skills
Experience in mentoring and/or leadership, or an interest in developing these skills
A tertiary engineering qualification and professional membership (e.g. Engineering New Zealand)
