Looking for somebody who has been focused on hands-on Jira Data Center support at scale and Jira Cloud migration experience at scale much larger than 6k users.

Looking for a senior, enterprise-level Jira platform expert who has operated in a very large, complex global environment (30,000–40,000+ users) and can own both Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud ecosystems. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience leading Data Center to Cloud migrations in large enterprises, not simple lift-and-shift projects, and should understand migration strategy, plugin rationalization, governance redesign, and post-migration stabilization.
Beyond application-level administration, the manager expects strong infrastructure and OS-level expertise, including server administration, clustering, monitoring, performance tuning, and scripting/automation to support large-scale migrations. This is not a basic Jira admin role - they want someone who can manage Jira as a critical enterprise platform, demonstrate long-term ownership in large environments, and operate confidently across application, infrastructure, and migration strategy layers with minimal ramp-up.

Candidates focused only on workflows, boards, and permissions without OS/server-level or infrastructure knowledge.
No experience supporting 30k+ users in a global, multi-project enterprise environment.
Pure system/OS administrators without deep Atlassian (Jira Data Center/Cloud) expertise.
Only basic "lift-and-shift” migration experience -we require complex, enterprise-scale Data Center to Cloud migration exposure.
No hands-on scripting or automation experience to support large-scale migration efforts.

As part of the team, you will help design, build, improve, support, and maintain Adobe Jira, one of the largest and most complex Jira Data Center installations in the world, as well as help the team move to Atlassian Cloud Stack.
Our team is responsible for performance and availability of the tools we support. We guide best practices, handle requests for Jira project modifications, solve Jira issues for users, and perform upgrades. We also provide integrations that bring together the product development stack that includes many external and in-house tools. We put a lot of effort into governance and tool usage efficiency.

- What We Do:
- Manage tools hosted on-premises and perform application-level upgrades.
- Troubleshoot, proactively optimize applications, and perform cleanup.
- Educate engineering teams on best practices.
- Create, maintain, and improve monitoring and alerting systems using NewRelic and Splunk.
- Expand self-service capabilities by identifying and building tools and automations that help users and admins.
- Work with infrastructure support teams to keep software and hardware updated and patched.
- Evaluate Atlassian Cloud and prepare for the Jira Cloud migration (coming soon).
What You Will Need to Succeed
Are you able to work in collaborative space, with a balance of solo effort? Needed skills:
- 5+ years of Jira Data Center system admin experience at enterprise level scale.
- 2+ years of Jira Cloud system admin experience at enterprise level scale.
- Hands-on Jira Cloud prep and migration experience.
- Growing knowledge and passion for AI systems.
- Accountability for both front-end and back-end-related technical challenges in the enterprise data center environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with RedHat Linux system administration and programming.
- Fluency with Java, scripting languages, Oracle and SQL databases.
- Working knowledge of Atlassian products, GitHub, orchestration tools.
- Experience with tool integrations on the enterprise level, like Jira and GitHub.
- Customer support mindset with ability to communicate complex engineering initiatives to programmers and non-technical users.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Confluence Cloud, Confluence Cloud migration experience.
- AWS knowledge or similar experience with other public cloud offerings.
