Senior Quality Assurance Officer

NZ Nutrition Care Limited is a nutritional and health products manufacturing company based in Hamilton, New Zealand. As the company continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and responsible Senior QA (Senior Quality Assurance Officer).

The Senior QA will work closely with the quality, production, warehouse, R&D and management teams to ensure that raw materials, production processes, finished products and associated records comply with company quality requirements, customer requirements, and relevant New Zealand regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the company's quality system — writing and updating SOPs, specifications and related QA documentation to keep GMP, HACCP, RMP and food safety requirements met.

• Carry out internal audits and follow findings through to close-out.

• Support customer, certification and regulatory audits — keeping documentation audit-ready and managing corrective actions.

• Help manage the company's certifications and registrations (GMP, HACCP, ISO, Halal, Organic), including new applications and renewals.

• Review specifications, labels and product claims against New Zealand and export-market requirements, and keep the team informed of regulatory changes.

• Investigate non-conformances, deviations and customer complaints using root cause analysis, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Review batch records and quality documentation, and release product once all requirements are met.

• Oversee sampling and testing of raw materials, packaging, finished products, water and the environment, and manage quarantined, returned and non-conforming stock.

• Monitor production against approved SOPs, identify quality risks, and drive continuous improvement.

• Provide training to quality, production and warehouse staff on quality systems and operational requirements.

Requirements

• At least 3 years' QA experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Sound working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and food safety / quality management systems.

• Experience writing and maintaining SOPs and quality documentation.

• Experience handling non-conformances, deviations, CAPA and customer complaints, with sound root cause analysis skills.

• Exposure to internal and external audits, and comfortable keeping documentation audit-ready.

• Careful, methodical and detail-focused, with strong record-keeping habits.

• A confident communicator who works well across production, warehouse, R&D and quality.

• Able to guide and train QA/QC and production staff, and to take ownership of quality issues independently.

• Comfortable working in a production environment at a fast pace.

The following experience or qualifications will be advantageous:

• Experience with New Zealand RMP (Risk Management Programme), Organic Certification, Halal Certification or ISO certifications.

• Familiarity with New Zealand MPI importing and exporting requirements.

• HACCP, food safety or internal auditor qualifications.

• A tertiary qualification in food science, science or a related area.

• Experience in nutritional supplement, health product or dietary supplement manufacturing, or experience manufacturing powder, liquid or other food.

• Experience in supplier quality management or raw material quality management.

• Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese.
