Job Title: Senior Technician – Analytical Science

Location: Reading (RG6 6LA)

Rate: £23.03ph Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Employment Type: Contract (05/09/2027)

Hours: Standard 36 Hours Per Week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Position Purpose Statement

The role at Senior Technician is to be responsible for performing a range of routine analyses ensuring that projects are completed effectively and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. Schedule and perform chemical analysis and report work in accordance with the quality standards. This role focuses on the analysis of products using techniques such as HPLC and LC-MS and may also include training in IC, GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, and Wet Chemistry methods.

The position will be primarily based at the Reading location although may require attendance of any of the our client's sites.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Technical

Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.

Perform a range of routine analysis using (enter name of techniques) under supervision of a senior member of staff.

To perform analytical work following validation protocols.

Operate basic lab equipment as directed.

Be proficient in the use of generic software packages including Laboratory’s LIMS system, ELN and Q-Pulse and a range of specific software packages required for the role such as OpenLab, Chromeleon, Chemstation, MassHunter and MassLynx.

Provide training in routine activities and methods.

Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.

Will be expected to cross train and work in different laboratories if the demand is required.

Communication & Influence

Work as part of an efficient analytical team

Participate in the preparation of client quotes

QEHS

Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.

To complete assigned quality actions in a timely manner

Assist with the documentation of SOPs for simple equipment and tests and generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH

To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.

To understand and work to the requirements of GMP and UKAS.

Ensure training records are accurate.

Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training

Educated to Degree / HNC level in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory.
