Site Engineer | Auckland – FIFO to Hastings

Seipp Construction Limited

Accredited employerFull-timeNZ$90,000 - NZ$120,000Posted 4 days ago

Job Description

Be the engineer your supervisor can rely on to keep the job moving.

You know what’s happening in the trench, what needs to happen next, and what the crew needs before they start. You plan ahead, work through problems with the supervisor, and keep quality records up to date as the work progresses.

If that sounds like you, we have a permanent opportunity with Seipp Construction.

$90,000–$120,000 per annum + vehicle + daily living away from home allowance during the Hastings assignment.

You’ll initially work a Monday–Friday FIFO roster from Auckland to our East Clive project in Hastings until May 2027. After that assignment, you’ll be based in Auckland, continuing your career with our team.

A project worth getting stuck into

At East Clive, we’re delivering outfall pump station and land-based outfall works for Hastings District Council, helping strengthen wastewater infrastructure the community relies on every day.

The work brings together civil structures, pipelines, piling and temporary works within an operating wastewater treatment plant. It calls for an engineer who understands construction sequencing, pays attention to quality and can turn drawings and specifications into work that’s ready for the crew.

Working closely with the Project Manager, supervisors and site team, you’ll:

Plan upcoming work, checking drawings, specifications, materials and inspection requirements before crews need them.

Keep supervisors equipped with clear information and help resolve issues that could hold up delivery.

Support the coordination of drainage, structural, piling and temporary works activities.

Complete ITPs, inspection records, as-builts and other quality documentation as the work progresses.

Track progress, quantities and site records, raising risks and changes early.

Help prepare practical methodologies and JSEAs so work is properly planned and safely delivered.

Bring your practical construction experience

You’ll have at least four years’ relevant site engineering experience, including construction delivery in New Zealand, and a tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related field.

Your background could be in three waters or structural construction. Roading experience is also relevant where it includes substantial drainage work and clear responsibility for planning and quality.

We’re looking for evidence of

Hands-on involvement at the workface, including trench and excavation activities, alongside supervisors and crews.

Planning and sequencing work so people, materials and information are ready when needed.

Ownership of quality inspections and records, supported by a sound understanding of drawings and specifications.

Practical problem solving and the confidence to raise issues early.

Clear communication and responsibility for delivering your section of work.

Experience on projects for Watercare, councils or government clients would be valuable, as would exposure to piling and temporary works.

This role requires established construction delivery experience. A background limited to design engineering or subdivision development won’t meet the requirements.

You must be available for the Monday–Friday FIFO assignment to Hastings until May 2027, followed by Auckland-based work.

Build your future with Seipp

Seipp delivers infrastructure that contributes to better lives and healthier communities. We value people who plan carefully, look after their teammates and take pride in doing the job properly.

You’ll have responsibility for work that matters, direct involvement with the people building it, and the opportunity to develop towards a Project Engineer role as your capability grows.

We offer

$90,000–$120,000 per annum, reflecting your experience and capability.

A vehicle and daily living away from home allowance during the Hastings assignment.

A Monday–Friday FIFO roster for the initial project.

Permanent employment, with Auckland-based work following East Clive.

Experience across civil structures, pipelines, piling and temporary works.

Your first assignment is East Clive. Your permanent role is with Seipp.
