Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join the talented culinary team at Metita on a fixed term basis until June 2027.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in leading the kitchen team, maintaining exceptional food quality standards and delivering an outstanding dining experience for our guests. This is an exciting opportunity for a rising culinary leader to further develop their skills within a highly regarded restaurant environment known for creativity, innovation and excellence.

You'll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day kitchen operation, mentoring junior chefs, ensuring food quality and presentation standards are met, and contributing to a positive and high-performing team culture.

Mōu | About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about food, people and developing their culinary career within a premium dining environment.

You'll bring

• Previous leadership experience at Sous Chef level, or be a high-performing Chef de Partie ready to take the next step
• A minimum of two years' experience within a high-end, high-volume à la carte restaurant environment
• Experience working to five-star, Chef Hat or Michelin-level standards
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to educate, motivate and inspire a team
• Formal chef qualifications
• Creativity, professionalism and a positive attitude
• Cultural awareness gained through working within diverse and multicultural kitchen brigades
• A strong understanding of kitchen operations, systems and structure
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
• Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
