The role is part of the Platform Product Group, which builds a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency and quality and provide a consistent, high-quality experience across Coinbase products.

The Core Automation team aims to automate AI-powered operations to deliver seamless customer experiences and maximum value for shareholders. Our initial focus is automating Customer Support and Compliance with Agentic AI, building primitives and orchestration that scale across domains, and enabling AI to enhance customer experience and internal processes.

In this role, you will join as a Staff Software Engineer in the Platform Product Group and contribute to foundational APIs and distributed systems that enable AI agents and automation across Coinbase products.

What you’ll be doing (job duties)

• Design and implement Agentic AI systems that power Coinbase’s customer support experience and compliance processes
• Design and implement orchestration, guardrails and measurement techniques to ensure AI agents are grounded, relevant, and provide customer delight
• Architect and develop distributed systems
• Provide technical structure to teams and work with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Design and implement foundational APIs for use by LLMs
• Write high quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs

What we look for in you

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together

Nice to haves

• Experience getting LLM-based applications to production, measuring and improving grounding to a given corpus, and reducing hallucinations
• Experience in the Customer Support, Compliance, or Financial Crimes domains

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

Pay Range: $217,900 CAD - $217,900 CAD
