Stick / ARC Welder – Industrial Fabricator

We are currently looking for an experienced Stick / ARC Welder with strong fabrication experience to join our team and work on an industrial site in Auckland.

This role would suit a tradesperson who is confident not only with ARC welding, but also with general metal fabrication, fitting and preparation. Candidates must have solid practical experience working in an industrial environment.

About the Role

You will be responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication and associated metalwork on an active industrial site. You will need to be comfortable working from drawings, preparing materials and producing quality finished work.

Duties may include:

Stick / ARC welding

General structural and industrial fabrication

Fabricating, fitting and assembling steel components

Reading and interpreting drawings and welding specifications

Measuring, marking, cutting and preparing materials

Grinding and finishing welds

Setting up and positioning components prior to welding

Inspecting completed welds and fabricated components

Carrying out general workshop and site-based fabrication work

Following all site health and safety procedures

Maintaining a clean and safe work area

About You

The successful candidate will ideally hold relevant NZ welding/fabrication qualifications, however, candidates with a strong track record and substantial practical experience will also be considered.

You will need

• Proven experience with Stick / ARC welding
• Strong fabrication experience is essential
• Experience working with structural or industrial steel
• Ability to measure, cut, fit and fabricate components accurately
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings
• Relevant NZ welding/fabrication qualifications OR significant proven industry experience
• Ability to produce quality welds consistently
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety
• Reliable transport and excellent attendance
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Due to the nature of the industrial site, all successful applicants will be required to:
• Successfully complete a criminal history check
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
• Meet all site-specific health and safety requirements
• Provide evidence of relevant qualifications and/or experience
