We are looking for an energetic Swim School Manager to join our Swim School team at Glen Innes Pool and Leisure Centre in one of the most exciting new development areas in Auckland. This is a full-time role offering 40 hours per week. The purpose of the role is to manage and develop the Swim School Department to achieve programme area advancement, financial success, and operational excellence. You will meet new families that are moving to the area every day and lead a thriving community to achieve excellence in swimming and water safety.
The role will require department staff management, financial management, business planning, marketing, risk management, programme and service development and effective evaluation and reporting.

What will you be doing?
Financial Management – includes generating the swim school budget and completing associated reports within the specified annual timeframes that includes realistic projections, sound financial modelling and improved financial results. Ensuring all Financial policies, procedures, deadlines, audit and business requirements are strictly adhered to.
Strategy, Business Planning and Reporting - Attend and participate in all swim school and centre group meetings, workshops and team building activities as identified by the Centre Manager or as requested by Head Office.
Membership Retention - Create a fun and friendly environment within the swim school that is welcoming and comfortable to all members, new and old, and encourages a sense of belonging and support.
Customer Care - Deliver excellence in customer service to maximise customer satisfaction and retention.
Programme Development & Delivery - Lead the development of all swim schools programmes to support KPI and financial success.
Timetable Management - Alongside the Aquatics Manager ensure local swim school activity supports the Aquatics Business Unit Plans and Organisational Strategies.
People Management - Ensure all HR Policies and Procedures are adhered to, creating a welcoming, fun and friendly environment within your team that is comfortable for all staff and encourages a sense of belonging and support. Ensure recruitment, selection, appointment, and induction of staff to cover all rostered hours.
Health and Safety Compliance - Adhere to the organization policies and procedures making sure all staff is up to date with registrations, certifications and ongoing training provided.
What experience/skills do you need?
AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety License or equivalent industry recognised qualification.
Knowledge of the Swim School industry – current with industry trends, has a minimum 3 years’ experience in a variety of roles including Swim School Teacher/coaching and a supervisory role.
Comprehensive First Aid Qualification.
Budgeting and business planning experience – has prepared an annual business plan and budget, achieved or exceeded targets, and has a financial understanding of the business.
Sales, marketing & management experience – has worked with commission sales, is confident in planning a marketing campaign and has experience of leading a sales and Swim School team.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft software.
Minimum one year of people management experience with ability to coach and train – providing feedback on a regular basis in a manner to improve the employee’s performance.
Proven ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, while having a good awareness of the surrounding community.
Excellent Communication skills: Expresses ideas and information effectively, both orally and in writing. Actively listens, drawing out information and checking understanding. Clear spoken English.
