Systems Engineer / Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

This is a collaborative, customer-focused role with a strong emphasis on the Microsoft 365 platform. You will also work across on-premises and hybrid server and network environments. You will need to be adaptable, see the bigger picture and remain calm when resolving complex or time-sensitive issues. As a technical generalist, you will develop a detailed understanding of your customers, their businesses and their technology environments. You will design creative and effective solutions that aim to exceed our customers' expectations.

Key responsibilities

Making key decisions about customer infrastructure and leading technology projects that support customers' business requirements

Supporting the Frontline team to manage your customer portfolio, resolving complex issues and escalating matters when required

Providing a high level of technical knowledge and support to our customers and team, while continually broadening your capability and awareness of modern workplace technologies

Identifying opportunities to improve customer environments and SkyPoint's internal environment, then leading or contributing to improvement initiatives

Designing, implementing and managing Microsoft Azure IaaS and other hosted solutions

Installing, configuring and managing Windows Server and desktop operating systems, including virtualisation and associated server roles

Managing backup and disaster recovery services

Documenting technical solutions and customer configurations clearly and accurately

Recording time and job notes accurately for customer billing

About you

At least five years' in-depth experience with the Microsoft 365 suite

Experience designing, implementing and managing Microsoft Azure IaaS and other hosted solutions

Current Microsoft qualifications covering Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Azure and Security

Experience installing, configuring and managing Windows Server and desktop operating systems, including virtualisation and associated server roles

Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including firewalls, Wi-Fi, network protocols, routing, switching and wireless technologies

Experience with Microsoft virtualisation technologies

Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues

Knowledge of IT security best practices, including AI data privacy and security

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and promptly with both technical and non-technical audiences

Experience working in a managed service provider environment across multiple customers and sites
