Job Description

The Opportunity

Love travel? Ready to turn that passion into a career? We're on the hunt for an Operations Consultant to join our tight-knit Hamilton team. This is a great entry point into New Zealand's inbound and domestic touring industry – ideal for someone with strong admin, customer service or travel experience who's ready to grow into a specialist coordination role. You'll be mentored by experienced team members and get exposure to every stage of the tour journey, from first enquiry to "welcome home".

About Leisure Time Travel

We're a proudly Kiwi, family-owned travel company that has been putting people on the road for more than 35 years. From coach touring and rail journeys to tailor-made itineraries across New Zealand and beyond, our team designs and delivers experiences that guests remember for a lifetime. Our Hamilton office is friendly, fast-paced, and full of people who genuinely love what they do.

A Day in the Role

  • No two days look the same, but you can expect to:
  • Take enquiries and help clients choose the right tour, add-ons and travel insurance
  • Load bookings, deposits and balances into our reservation system with a sharp eye for accuracy
  • Confirm reservations with hotels, coach operators and activity suppliers
  • Pull together travel documents, manifests, room lists and tour manager notes
  • Support our tour managers and frontline team while tours are on the road
  • Take a turn on the rostered after-hours phone for tours in operation
  • Follow up post-tour with a friendly "welcome home" touchpoint

What You'll Bring

  • A genuine interest in travel and a customer-first mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail – you catch the little things others miss
  • Confident written and verbal communication
  • Strong organisation and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
  • Comfort with computer systems and a willingness to learn new ones
  • Prior experience in travel, tourism, hospitality, admin or contact centre work is a bonus, but not essential – attitude matters most

Why You'll Enjoy Working With Us

  • Supportive, down-to-earth team culture where your ideas are heard
  • Structured training and on-the-job mentoring to set you up for success
  • Clear pathways to grow into senior consultant, product or team lead roles
  • Staff travel benefits and industry famils once you're established
  • Free onsite parking and a modern Hamilton office
  • The buzz of helping Kiwis and international guests tick off their bucket-list trips
