Truck Drivers Required

Put your truck driving experience to work on the Napier Port Transformation Project. We’re looking for experienced Truck Drivers to join us on a fixed-term basis, moving containers safely and supporting the introduction of new transport operations across the port.

These fixed-term roles suit experienced Class 5 drivers, as well as experienced Class 4 drivers who are ready to work towards a Class 5 licence with our support. You’ll need to get up to speed quickly and be ready to contribute from day one.

Provisional start dates from 2 November 2026. You’ll support the safe and efficient integration of new services into Napier Port’s transport operations.

Minimum 40 hours guaranteed per week

4-month fixed term contract, with multiple opportunities available

Work in a 24/7 shift environment (including nights and weekends)

You must have a current Class 4 or 5 licence

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand

THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Operations Implementation Supervisor. You’ll help keep the project moving by carrying out the following responsibilities safely and efficiently:

Transporting containers within the container terminal and between Napier Port and off-site locations (including Thames Street Depot) as required

Supporting the phased introduction of autonomous truck operations through in-cab driving, in-cab supervision and remote supervision

Operating in accordance with Napier Port’s Just Safety Culture

Delivering services in line with customer and product care standards

Adhering to all operational procedures and safety requirements

ABOUT YOU:

You’ll be a reliable, safety-focused driver who works effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment. You will also:

Hold a current Class 5 Driver Licence, or a Class 4 Driver Licence and be willing to work towards a Class 5 Licence with our support

Have an excellent work ethic

Have a reasonable level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role

Be reliable

Be able to follow instructions and work safely within defined processes

Be adaptable and flexible to work within a 24/7 operation across a range of shifts

* Be able to pass pre-employment Health, Drug, Ministry of Justice and ACC checks.
