Welder Fabricator

CLL is looking for an experienced Welder Fabricator to join our team at our Kumeu workshop, with work on project sites across New Zealand when needed. You'll take the lead on the layout, fit-up and assembly of complex, high-tolerance structures and heavy machinery components, mainly supporting our piling operations.

What you'll be doing

Precision welding on a range of high-grade materials using MIG and Stick

Repairing plant using oxy-acetylene, arc, plasma cutting, MIG and TIG

Reading and interpreting complex drawings, spotting issues and working with designers, customers and management to make plans buildable

Estimating materials, managing timelines and keeping jobs on schedule and on budget

Mentoring junior fabricators and apprentices

Keeping the welding bay stocked and maintaining QA records

Working with management to plan future equipment needs

What we're looking for

5+ years' experience in heavy fabrication, manufacturing or structural engineering

Current structural welding tickets (AS/NZS 2980 or equivalent) highly preferred

Strong knowledge of fabrication geometry, structural layout and metallurgy

Confidence reading complex engineering and architectural drawings

Strong problem-solving skills

Knowledge of piling or construction equipment is a big plus

Comfortable working in both workshop and on-site environments

Current driver licence

A strong commitment to health and safety

This is a Full-Time Permanent position offering 40+ hours per week, with a pay range of $35 - $45 per hour depending on experience.
