ABOUT US

We have over 50 years’ experience in producing and maintaining dangerous goods tank wagons (fuel tankers) and proven track record of providing quality services and products.

We are now looking for three fitter/fabricators to join our great team!

In these roles you will assemble and build dangerous goods tankers and be involved in modifications of existing tankers. This is a Monday-Friday position 7:30am-4:00pm (or 6:30am-3:00pm). We may require overtime shifts to meet deadlines at times, though this is not something that happens often - family time is important to us and we do our best to ensure that our team doesn't miss out on those special moments.

ABOUT THE ROLE...

The day-to-day duties in this role include

  • Carry out installation of components as required on equipment as directed.
  • Carry out fabrication of components as required on equipment as directed.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Undertake repairs and modifications as assigned.
  • Ensure all machines are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Installation of new machines and equipment.
  • Overhaul, upkeep and repair of all plant machines onsite.
  • Review and advise on engineering requirements and drawings.
  • Actively engage in and promote safe working practices.
  • Work with and coordinate contractors.
  • Undertake fabrication and installation of components to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications.
  • Fault finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and parts.
  • Where a detailed specification is not provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect.
  • Effective communication – keep your manager and relevant parties aware of your progress, request and provide assistance where required.
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be required relevant to the post and the skill of the post holder.
  • PLEASE NOTE: This role requires predominantly fitting and a small amount of fabrication.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• REQUIRED: A minimum of 4 years relevant fitting experience.

• REQUIRED: Must have experience installing, overhauling and repairing pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics etc. Problem solving ability is essential.

• REQUIRED: Must have knowledge and experience operating a wide range of general workshop machines and equipment.

• Excellent communication skills - must have a good standard of English both written and verbal.

• Excellent decision-making skills.

• Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative and with low level supervision.

• A knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics would be considered advantageous.

These are not requirements but would be advantageous if you have any of the following:

  • Experience with lathes/milling machines
  • Experience with MIG/TIG welding machines
  • Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic test rigs
  • Experience with environmental gas testing
  • HGV truck and trailer driver's license with DG conversion.
